The Purpose of Everything
God made the universe to display the glory of his love and greatness. We have been created to love him and serve him.
The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. (Psalm 24:1-2)
Praise be to his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. (Psalm 72:19)
Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. (Psalm 115:1)
What’s Wrong With The World?
God’s creation has been corrupted by evil, and our relationship with God has been broken by our turning away from him. The Bible calls turning away from God ‘sin’.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
We have not appreciated God’s goodness;
we have not acknowledged God’s greatness;
we have not desired God’s presence;
and we have not obeyed God’s commandments.
